The study is conceived to develop a simple and practical, yet robust standardized outcome monitoring system for PMGSY which could be used regularly and is capable of being scaled up.

The output of the study was to engage policy makers in a critical discourse about the usefulness of different forms of PIM/IMT at different scales and in specific locations.

  • Project Description: Agricultural practices can substantially affect agricultural productivity and crop yields. The Government of India spent US$60 million on public agricultural extension programs in 2010. In the absence of experts, farmers often rely on word of mouth, generic broadcast programming, or agricultural input dealers. A mobile phone-based agricultural advice program was introduced which facilitate farmers to seek information over phone. The initiative name was – “AvaajOtlo”This service allowed farmers to call a hotline, ask questions, and receive responses from staff agronomists experienced in local agricultural practices.

  • Project Description: Rice is India’s number one food grain and is crucial to its food security. The annual growth rates of production of total food grains as well rice was the highest in the period following the introduction of HYVs during Green Revolution. The adoption of hybrid rice in five major states of India – West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, AP, Karnataka, Orissa. Spatial variation in the output of hybrid rice was found across the five states.

Irrigation Scenario Assessment in the SSP Command

  • Project Description: One of the unique features of Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) has been the use of underground pipelines (UGPL) at the sub-minor level.  However, a multi-location study by IWMI-Tata Program (ITP) in 2018-19 found that the UGPL has failed to become a reliable source of irrigation for most farmers due to institutional as well as technical failure.To explore this, this has been done. In this study, we have done census survey of all plots in the selected village with the GPS location to understand the canal usage and success of UGPL. Fot that we have taken the GPS of the plot and pump(if farmer used the private pipe line for fatching the water).
